Private house, Haarlem
A family with 3 small children wanted to expand their current home in the center of Haarlem. The extension on the ground floor would become the heart of the family. 2 Small oak window frames provide beautiful natural light throughout the day and a seating place for everyone around the custom-made table. The current kitchen and the hallway are connected with a beautiful custom-made interior. A steel frame sliding door between the hallway and dining room provides some privacy between the spaces. The current bricks were used for the new extension and the existing exterior door has been re-used and relocated to stay connected with the architecture of the environment. The new brickwork forms an old skin around the new wooden extension. The exterior is becoming one with the surroundings and the new interior is making a new connection between spaces.
